Featured Resident of the Month Jim Avery from Quincy Place Senior Living

For the past 13 months, Jim Avery has been a warm and steady presence at Quincy Place Senior Living. He chose Quincy Place with the encouragement of his three “amazing kids,” and we’re grateful they helped bring him here.
Jim was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and later built a long and successful career with General Motors, where he worked for 39½ years as a Financial Controller. His work ethic, reliability, and ability to connect with people have always been his strengths — he even considers working well with others one of his hidden talents.
Jim is a caring, considerate, and valued member of our community who consistently demonstrates kindness and compassion toward others. He is always willing to lend a helping hand, offers support whenever needed, and approaches each day with a positive and cheerful attitude. His friendly nature, generosity, and genuine concern for those around him make him a joy to have in our community. Jim sets an outstanding example for others and is truly deserving of this recognition.
Family is at the center of Jim’s life. He and his wife, Mary Louise, have shared 58 wonderful years together. They raised three children, two daughters and one son, and now enjoy the joy of NINE grandchildren.
Jim’s heart for others shows up in everything he does. His favorite pastime is simply caring for people and doing kind deeds, something that continues to shine through in his daily interactions here at Traditions. When it comes to community life, you’ll often find him at Monday Trivia, which he describes as “amazing.” And if you’re ever joining him for a meal, don’t be surprised if he recommends the veggie burger; it’s his favorite.
Jim brings kindness, humility, and a genuine spirit of service to our community. We’re proud to celebrate him as our Resident of the Month.
